Michelle Young - Photographer
Born and raised in Sydney, Michelle Young lives in the Inner West with her young family and works from her studio in nearby St Peters. Her love of photography began in high school, where her first published images sparked a lifelong passion that led her to complete a Bachelor of Visual Communication in Photography + Digital Imaging, cementing her expertise in both the creative and technical aspects of image making.
Early in her career, Michelle earned recognition for her mastery of traditional techniques and the timeless artistry of black + white photography, while championing emerging creatives through her role with the ACMP. She refined her practice across interiors and lifestyle, creating imagery for both editorial features and high-profile campaigns. Her career naturally evolved to span fashion, interiors, and lifestyle before returning to her first love—fashion—through children’s portraiture and advertising. During this time, her work was consistently sought after by leading publications, where she became a regular contributor with covers and editorials showcasing her signature style.
Today, Michelle is regarded as one of Sydney’s foremost children’s fashion and lifestyle photographers. She has been entrusted with major campaigns by brands including Love to Dream, Bellamy’s Organics, Boody, Luna Park, Vogue Living, Qantas, and Jetstar, among others.
Her work reflects a deep appreciation for children, a respect for traditional photography, and an enduring love for art and fashion. Influenced by the great masters of analogue photography, classical painting, and contemporary fashion image-makers, Michelle creates imagery defined by timeless elegance, emotional resonance, and a modern sensibility.
